RUSSIA - The Gazprom Management Board

Vyakhirev is chairman of the management board, or committee. The following are key members of this board:

Pyotr Rodionov, the board's deputy chairman in charge of finance, was minister of fuels and energy for seven months until he resigned on April 4, 1997. He has been tipped to succeed Vyakhirev as chairman. He has established Mezhregiongaz, a separate company marketing gas in more than 60 of Russia's regions. He is also the CEO of Lentransgaz, a pipeline subsidiary of Gazprom. He has overseen a demerger of unrelated businesses in Gazprom since 1997. These include farms and hospitals. The aim was to reduce Gazprom's workfore by 100,000 to about 300,000 in 1998. One of his key aides is Eduard Ivanov, head of Gazprom's securities operation. Another aide is Alexander Semenyaka, head

of the investment department which is also in charge of shareholder participation.

Valery Vladimirovich Remizov, another deputy chairman, is in charge of gas production, storage and strategic planning.

Bogdan Vladimirovich Budzullak, a board member, is in charge of transportation and of Gazprom's pipelines. He has worked on Gazprom's 1996-2015 plan to develop its pipeline system, with 592 km of the company's 145,000 km of trunk lines repaired in 1997. As a result, he said in mid-1998, the system's capacity in 1997 increased by 0.8 BCM, from a 1996 throughput of 635 BCM.

Valentin Ivanovich Nikishin, a board member, is in charge of gas sales in Russia and of Mezhregiongaz which is chaired by Rodionov.

Alexander Alekseevich Pushkin, a board member, is in charge of gas sales to fellow CIS member republics. One of the Gazprom affiliates involved in gas trade and JVs in the CIS is Itera, headed by Igor Makarov.

Sergei Yemelyanov is in charge of Gazprom's exports outside the CIS. The president and CEO of Gazexport, the Gazprom unit established for this, is Yuri Kamarov.

Boris Alexandrovich Nikitin, another board member, is in charge of exploration and drilling.

Vladimir Rezunenko, a board member, is in charge of strategic export projects and planning. He is expected to address the 12th Annual APS Conference which is to be held in Beirut on Oct. 12-13, 1998. Rishat Gafarov is head of Gazprom planning and economics.

Vasiliy Podyuk, a board member, is in charge of the regions of special importance to Gazprom and of the company's strategic alliances. Gazprom has alliances with ENI of Italy and Shell, among others, and with BHP of Australia to develop an oil field.

Victor Illyuschin, a board member, is head of personnel and manpower development. He said in mid-1998 that, unlike the staff of other Russian companies and the coal miners, Gazprom's employees have been receiving their salaries regularly despite cash-flow problems faced by the company because of gas users' non-payment of their bills. But he admitted that supplementary benefit payments to staff had been cut. He noted that especially hit were workers in the northern fields, where living expenses were high. He said Gazprom reduced its staff considerably by outsourcing non-core divisions, such as construction, affiliated agricultural plants or child care facilities.

Yuri Goriainov, a board member, heads the construction division which is in charge of building pipelines and plants. Its main projects include the "Blue Stream" pipeline to be build under the Black Sea to Turkey and the Yamal- Europe pipeline.

Irina Bogateriva, a board member, is in charge of Gazprom's accounting department and has adopted international standards of transparency.
