RUSSIA - Aug. 14 - Budget Surplus.


Finance Ministry spokesman Gennady Yezhov says the ministry has presented to the cabinet a draft 2002 budget that envisages a surplus of more than Rbs126 bn ($4.3 bn), with revenues of about Rbs1,995 bn and spending of Rbs1,869 bn. The draft budget is to be reviewed at the Aug. 21 cabinet meeting. Once the government approves it, it will go to the Duma duma (d`mä), Russian name for a representative body, particularly applied to the Imperial Duma established as a result of the Russian Revolution of 1905.  for review. (2001 budget surplus is expected to be higher than initially forecast, reaching Rbs100 bn.
