He managed the Dodgers just one full season, 1997, before he was removed, along with general manager Fred Claire Fred Claire (b. October 5, 1935 in Jamestown, OH) is a former major league baseball executive who served in numerous roles for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1969-1998 including the role of general manager from 1987-1998.  in June of 1998.     ``I'm not worried,'' he said. ``I want those guys to be aggressive. If one of them comes up with two outs and nobody on base, I want them swinging the bats.

    ``Plus,'' Hatcher went on, ``these guys are getting their walks, especially in crucial situations.''

    The Angels are on pace to walk 594 times, which would be 83 more than last year.
