Two teachers union officials will head into a runoff Runoff

Becki Robinson - who currently serves as UTLA UTLA United Teachers of Los Angeles (California)  vice president for elementary instruction - will face off against John Perez, who serves as UTLA vice president representing National Education Association members.

Robinson collected 3,268 votes, or 32.6 percent of ballots counted, while Perez garnered 25.3 percent of the votes returned.

A majority was needed to win. Teacher Warren Fletcher trailed in third while ULTA ULTA Utah Land Title Association

 official Mike Cherry took fourth.

About 24 percent of UTLA's 43,000 teachers participated in the election to select new leaders in more than two dozen positions.

``We had no outright winners for any of the contested spots,'' said ULTA spokesman Steve Weingarten. ``There will be runoffs for each of them.''

Higuchi is prevented from seeking a third term.
