The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry was established in 1986 by a small group of community volunteers. With donations from the local community, the Pantry provides supplemental food on a short-term basis to qualified local residents. The Food Pantry serves approximately 24,000 individuals each year, over half of whom are children. In addition, the Pantry serves an average of 100 senior citizens each month. The Santa Clarita Valley has grown significantly in recent years. As a result, the Food Pantry has seen an increasing number of people in need of its services. Approximately 60 volunteers work together to sort food, prepare bags and provide assistance.
