RUNNING ON; HART SENIOR HITS THE PAVEMENT AGAIN.Byline: Nevin Barich Nevin Barich (born August 6, 1979) is a former American sports journalist now working as the Senior Editor of The National Notary, a trade magazine based in Los Angeles with a circulation of more than 300,000 nationwide. Daily News Staff Writer Eric Peatman is on the road back. Again. The 6-foot, 150-pound track and cross country runner from Hart High admits that, more than once, he has allowed his skills to slip a bit from time to time, being tired of the same routine the sports he partakes in entail entail, in law, restriction of inheritance to a limited class of descendants for at least several generations. The object of entail is to preserve large estates in land from the disintegration that is caused by equal inheritance by all the heirs and by the ordinary . ``My enthusiasm has kind of been off and on,'' said Peatman, a 16-year-old who will be a senior this fall. ``I was into it when I ran some good courses against some good people. That's when I really like it. But then when that doesn't happen, it ends up being just a lot of repetition REPETITION, construction of wills. A repetition takes place when the same testator, by the same testamentary instrument, gives to the same legatee legacies of equal amount and of the same kind; in such case the latter is considered a repetition of the former, and the legatee is entitled . It gets boring.'' When the track season ended in May, Peatman took some time off as his fiery desire dwindled to a flame. He resumed training last month and is competing in the 16th annual Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. That is the series of seven races held this summer at the top of the College of the Canyons campus. It's a rather difficult course that Peatman is relishing. ``There's a lot of hills you have to go through,'' Peatman said. ``They're really good for training. Two of the (Foothill) league races are going to be at College of the Canyons next year.'' This season, Peatman was plagued by a series of illnesses while competing in both cross country and track. In cross country, he struggled with colds throughout the year. In track, the stomach flu around Easter vacation forced Peatman to miss about a week-and-a-half of training. ``I think he had an excellent year,'' said Hart track and cross country coach Larry David, who this season led the Indians INDIANS. Despite the illnesses, Peatman secured all-league honors in cross country for the second-straight year and ran a personal best in the mile, his favorite event. While he already ran the mile in an impressive 4:39 when the season began, but managed to knock two seconds off his time. Still, Peatman wasn't completely happy with his overall performance. ``I would've liked to have done better,'' Peatman said. ``I felt like I could've improved a bit more.'' Peatman began running competitively in eighth grade when he joined the Santa Clarita Warriors
``It was a hard step up,'' Peatman said, ``because when I came to Hart in the ninth grade, they had been national champions like three or four years before and there was still a few members from that team. It was hard competing with them.'' Peatman joined the varsity track team in 10th grade and will continue with it his senior year. But he made it perfectly clear that cross country remains his first love. ``I think that track has always been more of a training thing for cross country,'' Peatman said. Although college is still a little ways off, Peatman is considering attending the Citadel (in Charleston, S.C.) or the Virginia Military Institute Virginia Military Institute (VMI), at Lexington; state supported; chartered and opened 1839 as the first state military college in the United States.
