Valley's annual summer cross-country race series begins Thursday at Pelona Vista Park, 37700 Tierra Subida. A one-mile run begins at 6:30 p.m. and the three-mile race begins 15 to 20 minutes later. Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the southwest corner of the park, near the parking area. The Antelope Valley Summer All-Comers Cross-Country Series continues July 3, July 10, July 17, July 24, July 31 and Aug. 7. The July 31 meet will feature a single four-mile coed relay, with two or three runners of both sexes running 1-2-1 mile legs. Awards will be presented after the final meet Aug. 7 to the top three runners in each age group who have run in at least three of the six preliminary meets. Donations of at least $1 per runner per meet are accepted to help offset costs Costs for which funds have been appropriated but will not be obligated because of a contingency operation.
