RUNNERS GEARING UP FOR CITY'S MARATHON.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Runners from around the world will hit the streets next weekend for the annual Santa Clarita Marathon.

More than a thousand runners will start the marathon and half-marathon at 7 a.m. Sunday at historic Lang Station in Canyon Country. There will be water stops at every sponsored mile marker, first aid stations, and disc jockeys disc jockey (DJ)

Participation is expected to be high for the race, which now qualifies runners for the Boston Marathon Boston marathon

There is also 5K Run/Walk that begins and ends at Newhall Park, and a Kid K Fun Run at the William S. Hart High School Hart High School may refer to:

 track.

Participants in the 5K and Kid K will be welcomed at the Newhall Park finish line with a pancake pancake, thin, flat cake, made of batter and baked on a griddle or fried in a pan. Pancakes, probably the oldest form of bread, are known in different forms throughout the world.  breakfast, children's entertainment, an awards ceremony, food vendors and music by The Hodads.

The prerace Health and Fitness Expo will also be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hyatt Valencia. This allows runners to pick up their free T-shirts, race numbers and timing chips, while enjoying samples from health and sports vendors. Following the expo is the traditional pasta feed for runners to load up on energy for the races.

The best overall and local winners of the marathon will receive a variety of prizes, such as airline tickets and gift certificates from local restaurants and attractions.
