 George Runner George C. Runner, Jr. (born March 25 1952 in Scotia, New York) is a Republican California State Senator, who represents the 17th Senate District, which includes portions of Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County. , R-Lancaster, will host a town meeting Thursday to discuss the draft Master Plan for Education that will affect schools statewide for the next 30 years.

The assemblyman wants Santa Clarita residents to help shape the plan that will address access to high-quality education, student achievement, accountability for schools and performance of specific schools and affordability at the meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at College of Canyons in the student center.

``The master plan will help shape the direction of policy for decades, and it is important that parents, educators and administrators have their voices heard,'' Runner said in a release. ``This Town Hall will be an invaluable opportunity for our community to share their opinions about the master plan and play a role in a major educational undertaking.''

Study beyond the level of secondary education. Institutions of higher education include not only colleges and universities but also professional schools in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.

This plan will include recommendations for all grades from kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education. Friedrich Froebel designed (1837) the kindergarten to provide an educational situation less formal than that of the elementary school but one in which children's creative play instincts would be  to college in attempt to establish a comprehensive plan. The committee has completed its research and will present the plan to the Legislature in August.

A panel of local educators and consultants will be at the meeting to help evaluate some of the recommendations. Residents will be able to speak with committee representatives and are encouraged to ask questions and share thoughts. The meeting is expected to last two hours.
