My uncle told my parents that they should sign me up for track.'' Her parents did. By age 8 she was competing in junior Olympic events. At age 10 she was a national-level runner. A group that included sprinters from the South Bay and Long Beach. ``The Newbury Park Track Club was her introduction, her debut,'' Janice Christensen said. ``She did well right off. She was beating all these girls from L.A.'' Christensen placed well in every event she entered. Two years after entering Newbury Park, Christensen had a daughter, Niobi, and her career was done - but not forgotten. ``I knew I wanted to run again,'' Christensen said. ``I guess this year was the time to do it.'' Christensen resurrected her career at Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California. and was a success right away. Said Moorpark College coach Doni Green: ``Chelsea is exceptional. She came in and made an impression with her ability.'' Over the past three months Christensen has juggled taking care of her daughter, school work and training. It hasn't been easy, but she's been determined to make it work. ``Sometimes it's really hard,'' the 20-year-old said. ``It's difficult to do it all. My parents have helped me out a lot, but sometimes it's tough.'' Christensen will finish her season of re-emergence today at Citrus College According to the Public Policy Institute of California, Citrus College had 632 students who transferred to universities during the 2005-2006 academic year, ranking seventh in the area. Citrus College students are represented by ASCC the Associated Students of Citrus College. in the Community College State Championships. Christensen will participate in the 400-meter hurdles event and in the 1,600-meter relay. She helped the team to the Western State Conference women's title two weeks ago. ``There will be some great teams there (state championships),'' Christensen said. ``I hope we can do well.'' Christensen is eligible to run again next year at Moorpark, but is uncertain if she will. ``I might just take classes and keep working out,'' she said. ``We'll see how things go. I still have goals and a lot of things I want to accomplish and track is still a big part of it. We'll see when it comes around.''
