RUN OFF CHRISTMAS COOKIES SATURDAY ANNUAL JINGLE BELL JOG SCHEDULED AT PARK.

Byline: Daily News

PALMDALE - Runners, joggers and fitness walkers can celebrate the spirit of the season Saturday during the annual Jingle Bell Jog at Marie Kerr Park.

Sponsored by the High Desert Runners, a distance running club, the event will feature a 5K run/walk on dirt streets east of the park and a half-mile Elf elf, in Germanic mythology, a type of fairy. Usually represented as tiny people, elves are said to dwell in forests, in the sea, and in the air. Although they can be friendly to man, they are more frequently vengeful and mischievous.  Run inside the park for kids 10 and under.

The 5K will start at 9 a.m., with the Elf Run to follow at 9:45 a.m.

Medals will be awarded to men and women in various age groups, as well as to winners of the Elf Run.

The first 50 entrants will also receive a jingle bell and mistletoe mistletoe, common name for the Loranthaceae, a family of chiefly tropical hemiparasitic herbs and shrubs with leathery evergreen leaves and waxy white berries. They have green leaves, but they manufacture only part of the nutrients they require.  brooch brooch

Ornamental pin with a clasp to attach it to a garment. Brooches developed from the Greek and Roman fibula, which resembled a decorative safety pin and was used as a fastening for cloaks and tunics.
