RTD TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON BUS MODIFICATIONS
TO SERVE THE METRO RED LINE
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- RTD will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, Sept. 17, to discuss a plan to modify bus service on selected lines to better serve the new Metro Red Line, announced RTD General Manager Alan F. Pegg.
The Metro Red Line, scheduled to open in March 1993, will run from Union Station through downtown Los Angeles to Wilshire and Alvarado near MacArthur Park.
The public hearing will take place at Union Station at the Fred Harvey Restaurant, located at 800 N. Alameda St. in downtown Los Angeles. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive community comment on RTD's preliminary plan to modify bus service that operates around the subway station at Alvarado and Wilshire Boulevard.
Specific RTD lines to be discussed at the public hearing include:
-- Line 320 (Wilshire Boulevard) Limited
 -- Line 322 (Wilshire Boulevard/Century Boulevard/Brentwood)
 Limited
 -- Line 426 (San Fernando Valley/Wilshire Boulevard/Los Angeles
 Express)
These lines are proposed to be shortened to terminate eastbound service at the Westlake-Alvarado Metro Red Line Station. Replacement service from that point into downtown Los Angeles will be provided by the new Metro Red Line and RTD buses on Line 20 (Wilshire Boulevard).
The public is invited to attend the public hearing and comment on the district's proposals. Persons unable to attend are encouraged to voice their comments by mail no later than Sept. 17, 1992.
All written comments should be directed to The Office of the District Secretary, 425 S. Main St., Los Angeles, 90013.
