 Honorary Service Award winners this year were Ellen Marsh, PTSA president, and students Valorie Spilka and Lisa Walker.

Congratulations to these individuals who have spent time making contributions to students and youth in Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. .

Simi Valley High School Simi Valley High School is a secondary school located in Simi Valley, California which was established in 1920 as the first high school in the valley. It nestles in the Santa Susana Mountains and is adjacent to the San Fernando Valley, part of the city and county of Ventura.  nominating committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization. It works similarly to an electoral college, the main difference being that the available candidates, either  recently presented the following slate of officers for the PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education.  1996-1997 school year: president, Kathy Worcester; vice presidents - Janice DiFatta, Noreen Yale and Melissa Thiesen; secretary, Judy Galvin; treasurer, Cathy Munz; auditor, Nancy Zopfi; and historian, Sharon Lambertson.

Elections will be held April 24 at the school. Nominations also will be taken from the floor at this time.

Sinaloa Junior High PTSA will sponsor its first Health Faire on Friday to acquaint students with the health and safety agencies in the community. Some of the agencies attending will present blood pressure checks, fitness, cancer, skin calipers, fat in foods, CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Definition

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a procedure to support and maintain breathing and circulation for a person who has stopped breathing (respiratory arrest) and/or whose heart has stopped (cardiac
, stress and first aid. A flier from the students' PE teacher will be sent home. The students can speak with any representative during their PE class. The PTSA will provide lunch for the presenters.

On March 14, Kathy Peterson and Tony Franklin Tony Franklin may refer to:

 were presented with Hillside Junior High's Honorary Service awards. Peterson was instrumental in urging Simi Valley's City Council to install a pedestrian crosswalk light near Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  Park and making presentations to schools regarding bicycle safety. Franklin, Hillside's PTSA president, has spent many hours at the school putting together a number of events sponsored by the school's PTSA. The awards were presented before Hillside's band concert.

Hillside's PTSA will host a talent show contest May 31. Vocal, instrumental and dance groups or solos will have auditions from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in all categories. If students haven't received information, it will be available in homeroom home·room

Congratulations to Katherine Elementary Honorary Service Award recipients, Priscilla Lofton, Nadia Miller and Julie Powers. These recipients were "knighted for their loyal honors and dedicated service to the Kingdom of Katherine" at the Medieval Royal Ball. The Very Special Persons Awards went to Phill Ross and Roberta Clark.

At the March 15 association meeting the 1996-97 officers were elected. The slate included: Debbie Dobbins, president; Debbie McMillin, Bobi Ryan and Alicia Jones as vice presidents; Julie Powers, treasurer; Julia Hammon, secretary; and Priscilla Lofton, historian. Congratulations.

This week students at Katherine will have the chance to view the FAME (Fine Arts Mini Experience) presentation of artist Michelangelo which will feature the Delphic Sibyl/Sistine chapel and Gregorian chants. The FAME program is run by PTA volunteers. All are welcome to attend with their child's class. The presentations will take place in Room 23.

School Spirit Day will be held Friday. Students should wear the school colors of navy blue and lime green to school. School colors must be worn all day to count toward a class prize.
