Byline: Heather Gripp Daily News Staff Writer

The annual event features more than 1,300 swimmers and is considered one of the best preparations for postseason. It runs from 9 a.m. to early evening at Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The Falcons, led by All-American Kenny Carpenter, return, as do strong boys' and girls' teams from Hart.

The Westlake girls will get a preview of what they expect to be their toughest league opponent: Royal will also be present.

``Things have been going really, really well,'' Warriors junior Tyran O'Leary said. ``Our team is so deep, they just keep winning and winning.''

O'Leary and freshman Sarah Bultema have already turned in Southern Section qualifying times.

The Westlake boys are also undefeated but aren't as strong as the girls' team because of an injury to Dave Stelle and not as much depth.

The Warriors are expecting a challenge when they meet Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Baseball: Thousand Oaks and Royal play for first place in the Marmonte League when the Lancers host the Highlanders on Friday at 3 p.m.

Thousand Oaks (11-4, 5-1) took over sole possession of second place last week by beating Westlake and followed with a win against Newbury Park on Friday. The Lancers' only league loss was against Royal last month.

The Highlanders (12-2-1, 5-0) received their biggest threat to their perfect league record when Moorpark forced extra innings Noun 1. extra innings - overtime play until one team is ahead at the end of an inning; e.g. baseball
