But the Highlanders fell behind three times in the second game and 10-2 at one point in the third before pulling out the match. ``We were just a little off today,'' said senior middle hitter Cameron Dickson, who finished with 14 kills and a team-high six digs. ``We came out fired up, but Thousand Oaks hung in there tough. The Lancers pulled out to their 10-2 lead and it looked as if they would force a fourth game. ``We didn't run that much offense when the score was 10-2,'' Ferguson said. ``I challenged my middle (Dickson) to start touching balls at the net. Then we started playing aggressive volleyball.'' The Highlanders sure did. They pulled to within 10-4, then rolled off five straight points. Two sideouts later, Thousand Oaks middle blocker Jeff Richeson was called for a lift and the game was tied at 10. Royal kept the rally going, scoring four in a row to extend the margin to 14-10. Thousand Oaks did trim the deficit to 14-12, but senior outside hitter Jason McDaniel finished the match with his 14th kill of the night, hitting through the block. ``They responded,'' Ferguson said. ``The whole team started touching the ball.
