ROYAL HIGH SENIOR PLEADS GUILTY TO HARASSING EX-BOYFRIEND, FAMILY.

A Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  teen-ager pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor charges of vandalizing a former boyfriend's car and harassing him with phone calls after he broke off their relationship.

Carolyn Grill pleaded guilty in Ventura Municipal Court and prosecutors agreed to drop two other misdemeanor vandalism counts that charged Grill with attempting to intimidate in·tim·i·date

 the victim from being a witness.

Although Grill could face a maximum sentence of a year in the county jail, attorneys have agreed on a recommended sentence that will be reviewed by county probation officials. Judge Herbert Curtis III said the court would not disclose the terms until Grill's sentencing hearing, scheduled for Wednesday.

Grill did not say anything to the court during her appearance. Her attorney said Grill knows she did something wrong but should not have to face a jail sentence jail sentence jail npeine f de prison  after remaining in custody at the jail since her arrest April 15.

``She has learned a lesson,'' said Deputy Public Defender public defender, governmental official who represents indigent persons accused of crime. U.S. Supreme Court decisions expanding the right to counsel to pretrial proceedings and holding that a person cannot be sentenced to even one day in jail unless a lawyer was  Neil Quinn. ``It's not every day a girl ends up in jail facing felony charges on this kind of stuff.''

Grill, 18, a Royal High School senior, was arrested in March on suspicion of harassing 18-year-old Richard Hart Richard Hart may refer to:

The two met last fall and dated briefly until Hart broke off the relationship, said Allen Devers, the county Sheriff's Department detective who investigated the case.

Devers said Grill was arrested a second time in April on suspicion of felony witness intimidation Witness intimidation involves witnesses crucial to court proceedings being threatened in order to pressure or extort them not to testify.      dismissed the felony charges following a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

    Prosecutors amended the criminal complaint and reduced the two felonies to misdemeanors Wednesday. Those are the two charges prosecutors agreed to dismiss when Grill is sentenced.
