ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE LINE ANNOUNCES TOLL-FREE PHONE SYSTEM FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED PERSONS

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE LINE ANNOUNCES TOLL-FREE PHONE SYSTEM
 FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED PERSONS
MIAMI, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing effort to offer all travel agents and their clients the best possible service, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is now able to handle calls from hearing-impaired travel agents and consumers.
Royal Caribbean's TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) is served by an exclusive toll-free phone number, 800-722-5027. The system allows hearing-impaired agents and consumers to contact Royal Caribbean through a typed message and for a Royal Caribbean representative to respond in kind. Best described as a phone combined with a typewriter, the TDD will be manned between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
With the TDD, hearing-impaired travel agents can perform the same booking functions as agents who speak with a reservations agent. Via typed messages rather than spoken conversations, agents can make and service bookings.
Hearing-impaired consumers will be able to reach Royal Caribbean to request brochures and have questions answered. Hearing-impaired consumers wishing to book a Royal Caribbean cruise will be asked to contact the local travel agent of their choice.
"We recognize the need for booking and information systems which are readily accessible to the hearing-impaired," said Rod McLeod, Royal Caribbean's executive vice president of sales, marketing and passenger services.
Royal Caribbean is the world's largest cruise brand by passenger capacity and pampers passengers with superlative service aboard its modern fleet of nine ships. Itineraries include the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Panama Canal, Mexico, Alaska, Europe, the Mediterranean, Greek Isles, the Baltic, North Cape/Norwegian Fjords, British Isles, Scandinavia/Russia, Africa and the Canary Islands.
