ROYAL CARIBBEAN CONFIRMS ORDER FOR SECOND PROJECT VISION SHIP

MIAMI, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) announced today that it has confirmed its order for a second Project Vision cruise ship with Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. On March 3, 1993, Royal Caribbean signed contracts for the construction of two 70,000-ton, 1,800-passenger cruise ships with an option to order a third. The ships were developed under the working title Project Vision.
Under the terms of the contracts, the cruise line retained the right to cancel the order for the second ship within six months of contract- signing. With today's action, Royal Caribbean has waived its right of cancellation for the second vessel, which is expected to be delivered in March 1996. The first Project Vision ship is scheduled for delivery in April 1995. Royal Caribbean still retains the option to order a third vessel for delivery in early 1997.
"We are delighted to solidify our strong commitment to the future of the cruise industry with our confirmation of a second new vessel," said Richard D. Fain, Royal Caribbean's chairman and CEO, "and look forward to continuing our excellent working relationship with Chantiers de l'Atlantique, the builder of our last four ships."
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is the world's largest cruise brand by passenger capacity and operates nine modern ships offering more than 50 itineraries calling at more than 100 destinations worldwide.
