``I'm a little nervous,'' Heteniak said. ``But I'll be fine. I just need to stay strong mentally. As long as I'm thinking I have to do this, I can keep pushing with my legs. Physically, I think I'll be fine. It's just mentally I have to stay strong.''

Heteniak said she has thrown as many as 2 1/2 games in a day during summer travel softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. --Unusual experience: Royal's 5-4 victory over Thousand Oaks was just the second one-run game Royal has been involved in this year. Royal beat Westlake 2-1 on March 24, but the Highlanders have outscored their other 10 opponents 68-11.

--Fourth time's the charm?: El Camino Real has played in all four Daily News Victory Spring Classic tournaments, but never qualified for the Gold Bracket until this year.

``We've definitely matured and learned from our mistakes,'' junior pitcher Megan Miller said.

El Camino Real plays Agoura in a 1:30 p.m. semifinal. Miller threw a no-hitter to lead the Conquistadores past Agoura 1-0 March 2. Shortstop Shasta Lionetti drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Older sister Brittany plays for Agoura. Younger sister Casey plays for Oaks Christian.

Casey, who plays center field for Oaks Christian, took a base hit away from her older sister. Brittany had the last laugh, as Agoura won 1-0.

``It was definitely weird,'' Brittany said. ``She caught my flyball, and I thought it was going to be a hit.''
