ROY ROGERS(R) INTRODUCES ROASTED CHICKEN

LINTHICUM, Md., Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Roy Rogers restaurants have begun selling roasted chicken in their Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Salisbury, Md. locations. The product, named Roy's Roasters(TM), is herb marinated, slow roasted and basted with a special honey sauce.
"We are extremely excited about the addition of Roy's Roasters," said Ron Powell, president of Roy Rogers. Roasted chicken is a natural addition to the Roy's menu considering the chain's long-term successful track record with Roy's Recipe Fried Chicken.
Roy's Roasters will be available in quarter, half and whole chicken servings. Each serving is accompanied by cornbread. Additional side dishes offered include mashed potatoes, cole slaw, baked potatoes and french fries.
Clarence Howard of Howard Restaurants, owner of seven Roy Rogers restaurants in metro Washington, D.C., expressed the anticipation and excitement felt by store owners throughout the Roy's network. "It will be a wonderful addition to our core menu. We see this as a real opportunity to attract families and increase our dinner business."
"Roy's Roasters represents one of many new products and innovative changes being developed by Roy Rogers," said Sharon Fogg, vice president of marketing for Roy Rogers. "Chicken has played a substantial role in our ability to offer our customers a wider variety of quality foods to select from during the dinner hours."
"The introduction of Roy's Roasters is being aggressively supported by a series of dynamic commercials created by our agency, Earle Palmer Brown," added Fogg. "We have already started with radio and television in the markets that Roy's Roasters are available. We are also developing our expansion plans for the product into additional markets.
The Roy Rogers restaurant chain -- with over 675 locations -- is owned by Hardee's Food Systems, Inc. Headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., Hardee's operates a system of 4,000 company and franchise restaurants in 40 states and 10 foreign countries. Hardee's has succeeded in expanding and diversifying its hamburger and sandwich menu and is now the second largest chicken chain in the world.
