 ROY A. FINNEY JOINS MICROCOM AS VICE PRESIDENT
 OF MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
 NORWOOD, Mass., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Microcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNPI), today announced the appointment of Roy A. Finney as vice president, Marketing and Business Development, bringing his considerable expertise in marketing, service and support to the PC connectivity company. In this capacity, Finney will focus on strategic issues to increase Microcom's worldwide market share.

 Prior to joining Microcom, Finney was the president and CEO of Liant Software, a development firm specializing in Open Systems programming tools for UNIX, DOS and client/server applications. Finney also directed both U.S. and international marketing and support programs at Prime Computer, where he last served as vice president of the Indirect Marketing Group. In addition, Finney has held management positions at Honeywell Information Services Ltd., Alsys, Inc. and American Channels, Inc.
