LANCASTER - An all-star pitcher determined to keep his team in the pennant race wasn't nearly enough to stop the torrid JetHawks.

Kyle Nichols hit a grand slam off Ketchner (6-3) - his league-leading 14th homer - in a nine-run inning in the bottom of the second, in which the JetHawks had 12 hits and sent 15 batters to the plate.

Josh Kroeger, Chris Snyder and Jay Garthwaite each had four hits for the JetHawks, who had 25 hits, a league high this season and three short of a franchise record.

Former Pierce College pitcher Doug Slaten (4-4) won for the first time in seven starts going back to April 29, allowing four runs on six hits in seven innings.

--Matchup: Right-hander Scott Barber (4-3, 5.58 ERA) will pitch for the JetHawks when they play host to Inland Empire tonight at 7:15. Right-hander Jim Done (0-2, 6.66) will pitch for the 66ers.

Former USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  standout Seth Etherton earned Triple-A International League Pitcher of the Week honors. Etherton, making a bid to be called up by the Cincinnati Reds, won both of his Louisville (Ky.) starts, allowing two earned runs in 13 2/3 innings.

--Monday's top performers: Jorge Piedra (Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks) hit for the cycle for the second time this season. The Double-A Tulsa (Okla.) outfielder singled in the first, tripled in the fourth, homered in the sixth and doubled in the eighth. ... Mike Frick (CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge ) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for Double-A Midland (Texas). ... J.P. Roberge (St. Francis of La Canada/USC) had two hits for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Pa.). ...
