ROUSH BRINGS TOGETHER MISSOURI DRIVERS: RIVALS ARE ON THE SAME TEAM.

Carl Edwards Carl Michael Edwards, II (born August 15, 1979) is a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and Busch Series driver for Roush Fenway Racing. In the NEXTEL Cup Series, Edwards drives the No.99 Ford Fusion that is primarily sponsored by Office Depot, NASCAR's Official Office Products Partner.  and Jaime McMurray are teammates for the first time this year for Jack Roush Jack Roush (born April 19, 1942) is the founder, CEO, and co-owner along with John Henry of Roush Fenway Racing, a NASCAR team headquartered in Concord, North Carolina, and is Chairman of the Board of Roush Enterprises. . But long before they raced against each other last year in the NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla.  Nextel Cup The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series is NASCAR's top racing series. It was formerly known as the Strictly Stock Series (1949), Grand National Series (1950-1971), and the Winston Cup Series (1972-2003).  Series, they were rivals.

``I remember Carl showing up at Mittler Brothers truck shop in what I think was painted with a brush,'' said McMurray about racing against his new teammate in their home state of Missouri. ``It was orange, and it was like a Chevette or something.

``I think it was a Festiva.''

Edwards has other memories of that meeting.

``He had a really cute girl with him, though,'' Edwards said. ``That's what I was actually gonna bring up is that we never really competed on the track, but you were giving her the eye and that was a little bit of competition there. I was ready to get out of the shop as quick as I could.

``But, no we didn't (race against each other). I don't think we did.''

Edwards and McMurray won't be the only ones representing the Show Me State.

``Kenny Schrader is also driving a Ford Fusion Ford Fusion is a name used on two different types of cars from the Ford Motor Company.

Additionally, Ford used the name before the launch of the European Ford Focus, in communications with contractors working on
 this year,'' Edwards said, ``so that should be exciting. That will be three Missouri guys.''
