LANCASTER - The Retired Officers Association will meet for lunch June 5 at 11:30 a.m. in Carrows on Avenue K at 17th Street West, a recent move for the group.

Tom Craft, a retired Navy captain, stated this is a fairly new location for the group, which regularly meets the first Wednesday of every month.

``We meet in the back room where there is plenty of space, and this seems to be a more attractive place for our members,'' he said. ``Our numbers are increasing.''

PALMDALE - J&J Social and Travel Club for persons over 40 has a full calendar for the month of June, beginning with a social night of card games, bingo and Pokeno on June 5.

On June 7, the group will dine together at Casa Gutierrez in Leona Valley, and on June 8 there will be an Asian potluck and dance party.

PALMDALE - Palmdale Mayor James Ledford will speak at the June 21 general membership meeting of the American Association of Retired Persons American Association of Retired Persons: see AARP. , Palmdale Chapter 2195.

The group meets at 1 p.m. June 21 in the Palmdale Senior Center, 1002 East Ave. Q-12.

President Joanne Strauss said his topic will be ``A Vision of the Future.''

The June meeting will be the season ending for the chapter, which will be dark until the September meetings.

``We won't be inactive even though we don't have meetings in July and August,'' she said. ``We'll still be very visible from the booth we will have at Poncitlan Park every Thursday Night on the Square, through August.''

Visitors are always welcome at the meetings and members are urged to attend and bring friends.

PALMDALE - The Antelope Valley Chapter of the American National Red Cross will hold an ``all you can eat'' barbecue beginning at 5 p.m. June 28 at the Lancaster Municipal Stadium, 2400 W. Ave. I.

Tickets at $20 per person will include the barbecue, box seats to a JetHawks baseball game Noun 1. baseball game - a ball game played with a bat and ball between two teams of nine players; teams take turns at bat trying to score runs; "he played baseball in high school"; "there was a baseball game on every empty lot"; "there was a desire for National League  and the chance to receive a ``United We Stand'' T-shirt.

``This will be our local chapter's annual meeting, and we're issuing an open invitation to everyone to attend,'' said Fran Stewart, executive director. ``We expect a big crowd so we recommend that reservations be made no later than June 20.''
