ROUNDUP : VALENCIA BEATEN BY PARACLETE'S 6-FOOT-7 SPIRIT.

Byline: Daily News

Just imagine what kind of an athlete Paraclete High School's 6-foot-7, 225-pound junior Josh Foster will be like when he grows up.

Foster, still learning how to use his massive body, scored 15 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and scored the winning basket with 39 seconds left Friday as the Spirits from Lancaster upset fourth-ranked Valencia 59-56 in a semifinal game of the L.A. Baptist tournament.

Paraclete (6-4) held a 15-point lead in the second quarter but had to withstand a furious Valencia (9-3) comeback sparked by point guard Jason Richardson

Paraclete will face L.A. Baptist in tonight's 7:30 p.m. final.

At this time next season, college football coaches figure to be crowding into the gym to keep track of Foster, whose size and potential in football figures to make him a top recruit for 1998. It wasn't too long ago he was considered uncoordinated un·co·or·di·nat·ed

Tonight's L.A. Baptist-Paraclete championship game should be an intriguing one. Paraclete has the size, but the Knights possess the quickness. Paraclete could pull off an upset if it successfully handles L.A. Baptist's press.
