WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Canyons 101, Long Beach 80: Tournament MVP Kyetra Brown scored 21 points and had 15 assists to lead the Cougars to a championship victory in the Long Beach City tournament. Nikki Turner added a team-high 24 points and LaCresha Clark was named to the all-tournament team.

Antelope Valley 64, Sequoias 55: Stacey Hartwell had 21 points and Chakana Edwards scored 17 for the Marauders, who took third place in the Merced Tournament.

Ventura 88, Valley 75: Tanya McLaughlin scored 17 points off the bench in a nonconference defeat for the visiting Monarchs (2-2). Jacque Tennies added 16 points and eight assists. The Pirates (4-0), ranked No. 1 in the state, won their 39th straight game, behind 24 points from Adria Sneed and 41-of-44 free-throw shooting.

Cal Lutheran 76, Cal Poly Pomona 67: The Regals (2-0) won the Cal Poly Pomona Tournament championship with an overtime upset over the host Broncos (1-1). Tournament MVP Brandie Murrish scored 29 points, and all-tournament teammates Evi Orologas and Anita Richardson added 20 and 14 points for CLU (language) CLU - (CLUster) An object-oriented programming language developed at MIT by Liskov et al in 1974-1975.

Valley 86, Victor Valley 83: Freshman Tyreese Bailey hit a 3-pointer for the visiting Monarchs (4-1) with two seconds left in the nonconference game to break an 83-83 tie. Oke Ogoke made 6 of 9 3-point attempts and finished with 24 points and Leon Brisport added 12 points.
