shot a 67 on a course slowed by intermittent rain and was second at 269.

Jones finished with an approach shot that stopped three feet from the pin on No. 18 and made it for his sixth birdie of the round and second straight. On the 17th hole, he drove the green from 332 yards away and then two-putted to reach 25-under.

His final score was one shot off the PGA Tour record of 257 set by Mike Souchak in the 1955 Texas Open, and tied him with Donnie Hammond ('89) and John Cook ('96) for second-lowest. And the victory margin was the widest on tour since Jose Maria Olazabal won the '90 World Series of Golf by 12 strokes.

The $270,000 first prize gave Jones the earnings lead with $346,414 in three tournaments. Cook, who won the Bob Hope, and Mercedes Championships winner Tiger Woods tied for 18th this time.

Nick Price finished third at 270, with Rick Fehr, Mark Calcavecchia and Kenny Perry fourth, two shots back. Perry got into the big money with a sparkling 65 in his final round.

Phil Mickelson, Tom Lehman, Mike Hulbert, Scott McCarron, Tommy Tolles, Fulton Allem and Dan Forsman were grouped at 273.

Mickelson, the defending Phoenix champion, made a run the last two days with a pair of 66s but lost ground to Jones' 65 on Saturday and wasn't able to do more than improve his money position the final round.

Lonard and Long both shot 72s Sunday. Painter closed with a 75.

Nick Faldo, who closed with a 70, and Fred Couples, who shot 71, tied for fourth at 6-under.
