There will never be a TV ad with a bunch of kids saying, ``I'm Jim Furyk James Michael Furyk (born May 12, 1970) is an American professional golfer, known for consistently playing at the top level and for a visibly unconventional, looping golf swing. In September 2006 he reached a career high of second in the Official World Golf Rankings. .'' Yet the guy with the swing that exists only in Tiger Woods' nightmare leads the Pebble Beach Pro-Am after two rounds.

Furyk, the 26-year-old whose swing was described by Irish professional David Feherty David Feherty (born August 13, 1958) is a former European Tour and PGA Tour golfer, who now works as a writer and broadcaster. He is know by many for his good sense of humor.  as looking like ``an octopus falling out of a tree,'' is nevertheless one of the most accurate drivers on the PGA Tour The PGA Tour is an organization that operates the USA's main professional golf tours. And on Friday he made enough putts for a 65 at Poppy Hills to be at 12-under-par 132 after 36 holes, one stroke ahead of David Frost For other persons named David Frost, see David Frost (disambiguation).

was in a group of five players at 9-under.

The guy who does have the ``I'm Tiger Woods'' commercials - and a perfect swing - once again played with Hollywood hunk Kevin Costner and once again they were followed by enormous galleries.

But Woods was unable to get his game in high gear and shot a 72 at Poppy Hills and was at 142, 10 strokes behind Furyk.

 and a little amazement.

``Here I am 12-under, leading the tournament and I spend 90 percent of my time talking about my swing,'' he said after a seven-birdie, no-bogey effort.

``It's kind of a trademark for me,'' said Furyk, who was 14th in driving accuracy last year. ``I don't feel too bad about it. I do it my own way. It might not be right, but it's the way I do it.''

Teeing off in the first group of the day in a dense fog, Furyk birdied three of the first four holes as the players were once again allowed to improve their lies in the fairway and rough because of the extremely wet conditions from three weeks of rain.

``If anyone told you it wasn't helping, they'd be lying to you,'' Furyk said about being able to move the ball. ``But there is no other way you'd be able to play the tournament.''

None of his seven birdie putts were longer than 20 feet as iron shots hit from perfect lies zeroed in on the flag.

Frost, who shot a 63 at Pebble Beach, one off the course record, said moving the ball was worth ``two strokes, at least.''

Frost made nine birdies and nine pars, and six of those birdie putts were from inside 10 feet.

``Obviously, if you get the ball in your hand it helps, especially in the rough,'' said Frost, who was at 133.

David Duval, who shared the lead with Parnevik after one round, had a 71 at Spyglass and was at 136, four strokes back.

Chi Chi in the lead:Chi Chi Rodriguez shot a 4-under-par 67 to take a one-stroke lead over three golfers in the first round of the $850,000 Royal Caribbean Classic in Key Biscayne, Fla. The opening-round lead is his first since October 1993.

Jack Kiefer, J.C. Snead and Bruce Summerhays were 3-under in the opening event of the Senior PGA Tour season.

Kermit Zarley and Tommy Aaron were two strokes back after shooting rounds of 69.

``I haven't won, I haven't played well,'' said Rodriguez, long a fan favorite. ``I really had lost my enthusiasm for playing the Senior tour.''

Record round: Ireland's Padraig Harrington shot a course-record 9-under-par 63 to take a two-stroke lead over New Zealand's Frank Nobilo after the second round of the Heineken Classic at Perth, Australia.

Fred Couples was five strokes back after a 70, and John Daly was 10 strokes back after a 73.
