No. 9 Alemany 3, Quartz Hill 2: Sheila Shilati's eighth-inning sacrifice fly scored Gina Everette with the winning run, advancing the Indians (10-2) to the semifinals of the High Desert Classic. Angela DeLaCerda tripled in that game and Annette Ramirez and Tina Curcio doubled in an earlier 6-0 win over Oxnard. Sophomore Kim Diener pitched both wins, striking out eight in a one-hitter against Oxnard. Alemany plays Antelope Valley in Monday's semi.

L.A. Junior championship: Harvard-Westlake junior Brian Rosenstein was one of four players sharing the first-round lead at 70 in a field of 82 in the boys championship flight at Griffith Park. Westlake's Alex Kuyumjian was one stroke off the pace at 71. Other area entries included Alemany's Matt Heyn (74), Chatsworth's Todd Golditch and Hart's Carlos Robledo and Jason Semelsberger (75), Granada Hills' Ben Krug (76) and Grant's Tyler Foster (77). Competition will continue today and Monday.

DIVING

Junior Olympic Regionals: Erik Patton, a freshman diver from Westlake, placed sixth in competition at Las Vegas with a score of 297.60 to earn a berth in the April 26-28 national championships in Minnesota.
