ROUNDUP\Chaminade in hunt after win over Alemany\Brownson scores 24 points as Eagles await Harvard-Westlake.

Brett Brownson, a 6-foot-3 junior forward, scored a career-high 24 points as Chaminade High School's boys' basketball team scored an important 70-67 Mission League win over Alemany on Monday night in West Hills.

The win puts Chaminade (8-9, 2-1) in contention for the league title with a matchup with first-place Harvard-Westlake coming. Alemany(8-9, 1-2) received 30 points from Jesus Castillon, including 27 in the second half.

Chaminade led by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter before Alemany got as close as two points. Scott Long added 12 points for Chaminade.

No. 1 Harvard-Westlake 77, Crespi 40: The top-ranked Wolverines (12-2, 3-0) avenged their only Mission League defeat of last season with a blowout win in Encino. Crespi students kept yelling at the 6-foot-11 Jason Collins, who responded by showing some rare emotion when he made a three-point play at the end of the first half and pointed to the crowd. "It was friendly sportsmanship expression," he said with a grin.
