ROUNDUP: RIO MESA RUNS TO ITS FIRST TITLE.

 continued her dominance of the Pacific View League by winning her third consecutive individual title on Thursday.

Rio Mesa broke ground in the team competition, capturing its first league girls' cross country title.

Serrano timed 18 minutes, 37 seconds over the flat and fast 3-mile College Park course for a 24-second victory over Marianne Gerry of Camarillo.

Rio Mesa posted a 19-53 victory over Camarillo after finishing second to the Scorpions the last two seasons by taking seven of the first spots with Serrano, Megan Moyer, Cynthia Valencia, Katie Virant, Christina Villa, Sara Beckton and Jennie Lessel.

In the boys' competition, Camarillo won its fourth league title in a row despite the loss of senior Kenneth Benson, the team's No. 3 runner, for the season because of a knee injury.

Rio Mesa junior Phillip Reid, coming off a victory in the Ventura County championships last Friday, clocked 15:01 to win his third league title. Camarillo powered by the 2-3 finish of Brandon Lucero (15:08) and junior Johnny Zendejas (15:22) defeated the Spartans 29-43 in the team championship.

Snyder finished sixth, but the Falcons were buoyed by third- and fifth- place finishes of senior C.J. Howard and junior John Heft.

Junior Miguel Ochoa and senior Laura Zung of Hoover won the boys' and girls' individual titles, covering the 3-mile Crescenta Valley Park course in 16:07 and 19:18, respectively.
