ROUNDUP: PINCAY'S LEAD SLIM OVER SOLIS.

ARCADIA - Laffit Pincay, seeking a record sixth Oak Tree jockeys championship, brings a one-win lead over Alex Solis Alex O. Solis (born March 25, 1964 in Panama City, Panama) is a jockey based in the United States. He currently lives in Glendora, California and rides predominantly in Southern California. He first gained national prominence when he won the 1986 Preakness Stakes with Snow Chief.  into today's final program.

Pincay, with 31 wins, rides seven horses on the nine-race card starting at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Anita Santa Anita may refer to:

. Solis rides five, including favored Diamond Trick in the fourth and 5-1 Islander in the $100,000 Morvich Handicap turf sprint.

Pincay, 54, led the Oak Tree standings when the autumn meet debuted in 1969 (tied with Rudy Rosales), and in '76, '78, '82 and 2000. Chris McCarron is the other five-time leader.

Thoroughbred racing's all-time victories leader would be the fifth jockey to win consecutive Oak Tree titles, following McCarron (1983-85), Kent Desormeaux (1990-92) and Corey Nakatani (1994-95).

Pincay passed Solis with three California Cup winners Saturday and blanked Sunday. Solis went to Bay Meadows on Sunday and won the $100,000 Bay Meadows Derby The Bay Meadows Derby is a Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old horses of either gender on the Longden Turf Course at Bay Meadows Racetrack. Bay Meadows is in San Mateo, California where it opened in 1934 and is home to the longest-running stakes event in California: the Bay  with Bobby Frankel-trained Blue Stellar.

Bill Spawr, with 11 victories, has assured himself of a trainers-championship repeat. None of Spawr's pursuers entered enough horses in today's races to catch him.

--Big finish: Golden Apples ($7.80), last turning for home, peeled off the last eighth of a mile in about 11 seconds under jockey Garrett Gomez to beat 17-1 shot Dancingonice in the $250,000 Las Palmas Handicap The Las Palmas Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California during the Oak Tree Racing Association meet each year in the fall. The race is open to fillies and mares, age three and up, willing to race one and one-eighth miles on the turf.  for fillies and mares.

Winner of the Del Mar Oaks The Del Mar Oaks is an American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies. The race carries a purse of $400,000 and is a Grade I event at a distance of one and one-eighth miles (9 furlongs) on the turf at the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California.  in August, the Irish-bred is the fastest Las Palmas winner (1:46.61 for 1 1/8 miles on turf) since Kostroma (1:43.92) in 1991, and she's the first 3-year-old Las Palmas winner since Grenzen in 1978.

--This week: Hollywood Park's fall season opens Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. and runs for 31 days through Dec. 17.

Hollywood Park plans to offer free parking and admission on opening day. Friday night racing, canceled during the summer in response to the energy crunch, will be reinstated for Nov. 9 and 16 with first post at 7 p.m.

--Tiz next: Breeders' Cup Classic The Breeders' Cup Classic is a Grade 1 Weight for Age thoroughbred horse race for 3 years old and older run at a distance of 1ΒΌ miles (2012 m) on dirt. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup.  repeat winner Tiznow's next race could be the Dec. 1 Hollywood Turf Cup at Hollywood Park or the Nov. 23 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs.

Val Royal, first in the Mile, could race once more this year, in either the Nov. 24 Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park or the Dec. 26 Hong Kong Mile The Hong Kong Mile is a Group 1 flat horse race in Hong Kong for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile) at Sha Tin Racecourse in mid December.  at Sha Tin.
