Steve Rucchin scored twice and Mikhail Shtalenkov made 26 saves as the Mighty Ducks beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 Friday night in Edmonton, Alberta.

Jason Marshall and Doug Houda also scored for the Ducks, who moved within two points of San Jose for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Shtalenkov, who backstopped Russia to a silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Nagano, earned his first shutout of the season.

The Ducks beat Edmonton for the third time in four meetings this season. Edmonton failed to score a goal despite being awarded 13 power-play opportunities.

The Mighty Ducks clicked on their first power play of the night moments after killing off two penalties.

Rucchin picked up a rebound in front of the net and swept a backhand shot through the legs of Edmonton goaltender Bob Essensa, who was making his second straight start.A little more than two minutes later, Rucchin scored his second of the night by redirecting a shot from Scott Young.

Marshall added a power-play goal late in the third period and Houda scored a shorthanded empty-net goal to complete Anaheim's scoring.

Detroit 3, Florida 1: Sergei Fedorov, finally signed by the Red Wings, was no factor in his first NHL game since last year's playoffs as host Detroit beat the Florida Panthers.

Nicklas Lidstrom, Igor Larionov and Darren McCarty scored the Detroit goals.

Vancouver 4, Calgary 4: Jyrki Lumme scored the tying goal with 3:13 left in the third period as the visiting Canucks played to a tie with the Flames.
