ROUNDTABLE WRITERS' GROUP SEEKS STORY SUBMISSIONS.

PALMDALE Palmdale, city (1990 pop. 68,842), Los Angeles co., S Calif., in the irrigated Antelope Valley; a growing residential suburb of Los Angeles near Little Rock Creek where it forms Lake Palmdale Reservoir, inc. 1962.  - The Palmdale Writers' Roundtable is now accepting entries for its short story contest.

The city of Palmdale and the Palmdale Playhouse are sponsoring the contest, which is open to all members of the community.

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 28.

Barnes & Noble gift certificates will be given for first-, second- and third-place winners. Each winner will also be given a year's gift membership to the Writers' Roundtable program, for which membership fees are $50 for Palmdale residents, $60 for nonresidents.

The winners will receive their awards and present their short stories during the Writers' Roundtable reception at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Palmdale Playhouse.

Participants can submit as many stories as they wish. There is a $10 submission fee per story. Checks should be made payable to the city of Palmdale.

Contestants can mail submissions to Palmdale Playhouse, Writers' Roundtable Short Story Contest, 38334 10th Street East, Palmdale, CA 93550, or deliver them to the playhouse box office.

The Palmdale Writers' Roundtable is open to writers of all genres, including fiction, journalism journalism, the collection and periodic publication or transmission of news through media such as newspaper, periodical, television, and radio. Schools
, children's stories, poetry and screenplays.

Program members meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Palmdale Playhouse lobby. The goal is to provide a forum where ideas and styles can be shared in a supportive atmosphere.
