ROSS SYSTEMS - CHAPARRAL STEEL SIGN AGREEMENT FOR PROMIX MANUFACTURING SOFTWARE; FIRST IMPLEMENTATION PHASE NOW UNDERWAY

 REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROSS) today announced it has signed an agreement for the first phase of the implementation of its PROMIX(TM) inventory management software and GEMBASE(TM), its 4GL application development environment, as well as related services, with Chaparral Steel (NYSE: CSM) of Midlothian, Texas, a manufacturer of specialty steel products.
 The value of the complete agreement, which calls for a two-phased implementation, is estimated to be $750,000.
 Ross Systems, Inc. recently introduced the Renaissance CS(TM) Series, a suite of tightly integrated financial products built on a relational database and designed for client/server processing in an open systems environment. Today, Ross Systems develops and markets a broad range of business solutions in the following open systems environments: Digital's Alpha AXP architecture, Open VMS and OSF/1; Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX and MPE/iX; and Client Server. Ross products encompass financial, human resources and distribution systems as well as manufacturing and public sector applications, complemented by a fourth generation application development language.
