GLENDALE - One year after her husband retired from his 42-year career with the school district, Mabel Morse, principal of Rosemont Middle School, is following suit.

``I will miss the people - the people being the students, the staff and the parents,'' said Morse, who has been with the school district for 36 years. ``It has been such a great journey with so many interesting and terrific people.''

Morse said, like her husband, she will continue to be involved with the school district, working on special assignments on an as-needed basis.

``I could never leave totally,'' she said. ``I am one of those lucky people in life who have loved their job, the kids, the parents and teachers.''

Deputy Superintendent Deputy Superintendent, or Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was a rank used by police forces of the British Empire. In some territories it was called Deputy District Superintendent of Police (DDSP).  Joann Merrick, who has worked with Morse for 15 years, said her departure would mean a tremendous loss to the district.

``She is a professional in every sense - probably one of the best administrators I've ever had the pleasure of working with,'' Merrick said.

``She has the perfect blend of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills "Interpersonal skills" refers to mental and communicative algorithms applied during social communications and interactions in order to reach certain effects or results. The term "interpersonal skills" is used often in business contexts to refer to the measure of a person's ability  that really impact all the people she works with - whether it's students, parents or her school staff.''

The Morses met in the 1970s when they were both working for Glendale schools. Gordon Morse started his career as a fifth-grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School Horace Mann Elementary School may refer to:

. Mabel Morse also taught fifth grade, but at Marshall Elementary.

They both steadily advanced in their careers over the years. Gordon Morse became principal at Keppel in 1975, and stayed on the job for 26 years.

Mabel Morse served as principal at Mountain Avenue Elementary from 1975 to 1994. Later she ran La Crescenta and Columbus elementary schools. For the last four years, she has been at Rosemont.

Together, the Morses have contributed 78 years of service to the school district.

``One thing you can say about education is it is never dull,'' said Mabel Morse, who vows to always stay involved in her field.
