ROSE PARADE RIDERS TO GIVE SHOW UNDER THE EQUIDOME.

BURBANK - Equestrian teams entered in the Rose Parade will show off their best stuff today in a festival at the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Equestrian Center, with television personality Bob Eubanks doing the announcing.

Equestfest will feature acrobatic riders, trick ropers and historical demonstrations, including a team that will show how firefighters responded to blazes back when horses still pulled fire engines. All but three of the 26 equestrian teams performing in the 116th annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade The Tournament of Roses Parade was established, and first held, on January 1,1890, in Pasadena, California, eight miles (13 km) northeast of Downtown Los Angeles.

Rooted in tradition, this parade is broadcast on multiple television networks, watched by upwards of one
 will participate in the Equestfest show.

``It's an opportunity for them to showcase what it is they do. ... In the parade, they don't really get a chance to show off some of the maneuvers and performances that they do,'' said Lance Tibbet, equestrian committee chairman for the Rose Parade.

More than 200 horses will be in the show, including Andalusians, Lusitanians, Arabians and Clydesdales. Eubanks, former host of television's ``The Newlywed Game,'' will announce the acts for the last two hours of the show.

A team from the California Firefighters Association team will perform the final number with three vintage fire wagons pulled by horses. One of the antique fire engines uses a steam pump a small pumping engine operated by steam. It is usually direct-acting.

The event will be held under the Equidome at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, and more than 3,000 spectators are expected.

``It's just an opportunity for someone who loves horses or doesn't even know a lot about horses to really see what the equestrians do,'' Tibbet said.

There will be 21 riders representing Wonderful Outdoor World, a program that gives city kids the chance to go camping. Eight of the riders will be kids who are in the program, supported in part by the city of Los Angeles

``It was a great experience because, well, (I had) never been on a horse before, and it was great. I felt like a celebrity,'' said Dennis, offering encouragement to the children riding in the parade this time around.
