ROSAMOND - Brandy Sentner has been named California Civil Air Patrol
The U.S. Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force (USAF). It was created on 1 December, 1941 by Administrative Order 9, with Maj. Gen. John F.
 Cadet of the Year for the Air Force Association.

She received a Civil Air Patrol California Wing Officer of the Year award in October as well as the Colonel Jack Ferman Award which includes a $5,000 scholarship.

Currently the 19-year-old from Rosamond is one of two cadets in California serving in the International Air Cadet Exchange The International Air Cadet Exchange is an annual student exchange program designed to promote character, good-will, and cooperation among the world's civilian auxiliary aviation programs.  program. After touring Washington, D.C., for three days she continued to England for three weeks where she'll serve as an ambassador for the United States and attend state dinners and other government functions.

The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary branch of the Air Force in which students can learn about airplanes and leadership skills.

Sentner, who holds the Civil Air Patrol rank of lieutenant colonel, attends Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. , plans to study criminology and is interested in a career in law enforcement. She's a graduate of Antelope Valley High School Antelope Valley High School is located in Lancaster, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. It was founded in 1912[1]. It is located in the Mojave Desert. .

LANCASTER - Jeremy Leishman has joined the small percentage of Boy Scouts who achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

The 14-year-old sophomore from Antelope Valley High School was conferred with his new rank in a Court of Honor a court or tribunal to investigate and decide questions relating to points of honor; as a court of chivalry, or a military court to investigate acts or omissions which are unofficerlike or ungentlemanly in their nature.

A member of Troop 185, Jeremy has earned 25 merit badges, received an On My Honor award and is a member of the Order of the Arrow The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Founded in 1915, it uses American Indian traditions and ceremonies to bestow recognition on Scouts selected by their peers as best exemplifying the Scout Oath and Scout Law in their , a Scout society for honor campers. His scoutmaster is also his grandfather, Lee Leishman.

He enjoys camping out and making friends, but getting the water-skiing merit badge was definitely a high point, because water skiing is a favorite family activity.

To fulfill the community service project requirement for his Eagle, Jeremy led his troop to install a 30-foot flagpole at the LDS LDs

 church and organized a pancake breakfast as part of the event.

``The flag is a big part of the Scouting organization and I thought it would be cool to put up a flagpole at our church so other Scouts would realize the importance of having a flag,'' he said.

Jeremy is the son of Kurt and Leesa Leishman of Lancaster.

PALMDALE - The Palmdale VFW Post 3552 will hold a free Living Trust Seminar at 3 p.m. Saturday at 38580 9th St. East.

The seminar is to provide information on wills and living trust and how to avoid probate.
