RORKE DATA APPROVES RAVE COMPUTER'S ULTRASPARC-III SERVERS.Rorke Data, Inc, a subsidiary of San Jose San Jose, city, United States San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850. based Bell Microproducts (BELM), has announced that it has standardized on Rave Computer's series of scalable, Solaris-ready, UltraSPARC-III servers. Rorke will integrate and ship custom, rackmount systems based on Rave Computer's 4UAX UAX Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio (Madrid, Spain) UAX Unreal Sounds (a sound package for Unreal-engine games) UAX Uaxactun, Guatemala (Airport code) UAX Unit Automatic Exchange 2200 redundant servers and Rorke Data's Galaxy series of 2Gbit Fibre Channel RAID, and Rorke's scalable RTL (Register Transfer Level) A high-level hardware description language (HDL) for defining digital circuits. The circuits are described as a collection of registers, Boolean equations, control logic such as "if-then-else" statements as well as complex event sequences; series of rack-mounted tape libraries. The solution will be distributed through Rorke Data's authorized resellers in the Medical Imaging and Publishing markets, as well as key OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and partners. "The Rave Systems Redundant RackMount -- 4UAX2200, features Sun Microsystem's latest generation technology, the UltraSPARC-III integrated into a compact 4U-form factor, rackmount chassis," said Joe Rorke, VP Marketing for Rorke Data. "This powerful machine is designed to provide exceptional power for any imaging application that requires reliable and dynamic compute intensive performance and is ideally suited to our customer's needs." The 4U-AX2200 comes equipped with redundant power supplies and hot-swap capable front accessible drives. Its 4U-form fits in any standard 19" rack -- just right for those applications where a tremendous amount of power is required in a small space. "Rave Computer had been looking to expand the medical vertical market by seeking a strategic partner to qualify its SPARC-based servers," said Dave Francis, Director of Business Development for Rave Computer, "Rorke Data is a great partner because they understand the data-intensive workflow required by imaging applications, especially in the medical industry. In addition to which, Rorke's customer base complements and adds to our own." Rave Computer developed the RMR-4UAX2200 to deliver compact, high-density solution for data-intensive applications that require processing power in a smaller footprint. The Rave Systems compact server offers a wide range of expansion options in a 4U-enclosure, with the ability to add up to two 750 or 900Mhz UltraSPARC-III processors; up to 8GB of memory; a variety of 5.25" tape, CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc. The 4UAX2200 supports four accessible drive bays, which allow FC-AL or LVD SCSI hard drives to be easily swapped from the front panel without opening or removing the system from the rack. This unique feature facilitates easy upgrades, routine maintenance, and service. Rorke Data is a full digital storage solutions provider with expertise in Fibre-Channel RAID, SAN, DVD, tape and optical libraries, Unix, NT and Mac environments, high bandwidth networks, digital asset and document management, and engineering and maintenance services.
