ROP wins UN honour for excellence in public service.
MUSCAT Eoe1/4" The Royal Oman Police received the prestigious global UN Public Service Award at the United NationEoe1/4aos campus at New York on Tuesday night. ROPEoe1/4aos Civil Status System (National Registration System) has been singled out as a path-breaking system.
This award is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that result in a more effective and responsive public
administration in countries worldwide. The honours were conferred upon the ROP team led by Col. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Jabri, acting director-general of civil services, at the United Nations Public Service Award Ceremony at the United NationEoe1/4aos campus.
Several international dignitaries including the UN Secretary-General, heads of state and government, and ministers attended this award ceremony and the parallel conference under the title, Eoe1/4EoOvercoming Emerging Challenges: The Critical Role of Governance and Public AdministrationEoe1/4A[yen].
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs facilitates the search for innovations in governance and public administration through the Public Service Awards Programme.
This year, eight winners have been recognised for excellence in the public service on Tuesday, to coincide with United Nations Public Service Day.
