 has come in and been a leader and been named captain. On Wednesday night, the young players sat on the bench and the 31-year-old Rooks provided the difference in the Clippers' 78-74 win over the Knicks at Staples Center.

Rooks finished with 14 points, six assists and four rebounds in a game that featured defense. The game was a big difference from the Clippers' past two games, which were never close in the second half. But the Clippers had to come back from a slow start.

Neither team shot better than 40 percent from the field. It was the Clippers that made the plays down the stretch, especially on defense as the Knicks hit one field goal over the last 5:52.

With 1:08 left in the fourth, Rooks set a high screen and roll for Eric Piatkowski, who was double-teamed. Rooks rolled to the basket for the uncontested dunk to give the Clippers a 74-70 lead.

Matchup: The Clippers play the last game in two sets of two back-to-back games this week against Vancouver. The two teams met in the Clippers' second game of the season, a 99-91 Vancouver win at Staples Center. Vancouver had started the season 4-1 but lost its last two games on the road to San Antonio and Houston. The 4-3 start is still the best ever for the Grizzlies The name Grizzlies may refer to:
