In a game filled with 48 roof-raising dunks, Kaman's one-handed slam with 6 minutes 38 minutes remaining in the second half took home the prize for evening's most surprising and least graceful.

All this was a sight to see from the 7-foot first-year player.

Kaman dribbled the length of the court, drove into the lane and delivered a sweeping dunk with the ball in his right hand. The sellout crowd at Staples Center This articlearticle or section has multiple issues:

It wasn't quite up to LeBron James' between-the-legs standard. But it was vintage Chris Kaman nevertheless.

``I was tired of not shooting the ball,'' Kaman said. ``So instead of passing around, I dribbled all the way across the court. I haven't done anything like that one-handed.''

Kaman finished with eight points and Clippers teammate Marko Jaric added 12 for the team of second-year players. The sophomores won 142-118, and Jaric's game highlight was courtesy of his coach's son.

Kaman said leading up to the Rookie Challenge that he felt privileged to be asked to play. He matched up against Yao Ming in the beginning, then was beaten for several dunks by Stoudemire to start the second half.

But Kaman finished with three late baskets in the second half to salvage the evening. Afterward, he said how out of place he felt at times on the court.

``I'm more like a guy who plays hard, gets rebounds and plays defense,'' Kaman said. ``When there's no defense going, there's no point in playing. But I had fun.''
