RONALD J. ROBINSON NAMED GENERAL MANAGER EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF TEXACO

 HOUSTON, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Ronald J. Robinson has been named General Manager of Texaco Inc.'s Exploration and Production Technology Department (EPTD) in Houston, effective Feb. 1. The announcement was made today by C. Robert Black, Texaco Inc. Senior Vice President, who has oversight responsibility for the EPTD activity. Dr. Robinson succeeds Dr. Cecil M. Chopin, who has been named Senior Vice President of the company's Middle East/Far East Division in Harrison, N.Y.
 Black said: "Managerial and technological excellence have been hallmarks of Ron Robinson's career at Texaco. He has embraced Texaco's strategic initiative to focus on technological innovation, application and leadership in its operations worldwide. He will continue this commitment as he heads this department."
 Dr. Robinson, 47, is currently Manager-International Applications and Technology Transfer at EPTD in Houston. He received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of South Colorado in 1968, a master of science degree in physics from Baylor University in 1971, and earned a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 1974. He has been distinguished as a NASA Fellow and has earned numerous professional awards.
 Dr. Robinson joined Getty Oil Company in 1975 at that company's research center in Houston. He held a variety of managerial positions there, including Thermal Recovery Supervisor, Special Projects Coordinator and Reservoir Engineering Section Manager. With Texaco's 1984 acquisition of Getty, he continued to hold positions with increasing responsibility. In 1989, he was named Manager-International Applications Unit and was assigned the additional responsibility of Technology Transfer in 1991. In 1990, the company consolidated its upstream research activities to create the Exploration and Production Technology Department of Texaco Inc., which is responsible for providing the highest-quality technology, technical support and services to assist worldwide company units in finding, developing and maximizing production of hydrocarbon resources.
