That was more than six decades ago and, on Aug. 20, the Romeros, who live in North Hills, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Joe has owned and operated an import/export medical supply company in Burbank for more than 30 years.

They have two children, Neil and Becky, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

They celebrated their 65th anniversary in Vancouver, Canada.

What's their secret to a long marriage?

"We both do our own things, but we also enjoy doing things together," Peggy said. "We've been very lucky."
