Henry Bibby Charles Henry Bibby (born November 24, 1949 in Franklinton, North Carolina) is a former professional basketball player and current assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  has openly wondered which USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  basketball players will show up and be ready to play on a nightly basis.

The Trojans' season might be winding down, but Bibby is finally getting a solid, if unexpected, answer to his dilemma.

USC's three true freshmen are emerging as the Trojans' nucleus, and it was never more apparent than in Saturday's 75-69 overtime victory over Washington State before 2,681 at the Sports Arena.

Bibby relied almost exclusively on freshman point guard Kevin Augustine, who played a career-high 37 minutes and responded with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Freshman forward Greg Lakey had 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman swingman swing·man

It was easily the most influence the freshmen trio has had this season, and it didn't come at a better time. Some of USC's go-to players seem to be fading, as point guard Gary Johnson had six points and forward Jarvis Turner went scoreless.

``I think all the young guys want to play,'' Bibby said. ``They don't know anything else but playing hard.''

Augustine, in particular, defied Bibby's image as a coach who gives players a quick hook by playing all but eight minutes.

``You see when guys are playing well, like Augustine, they don't come out,'' Bibby said.

But the Trojans (7-12, 3-6) barely forced the game into overtime. Washington State (8-12, 1-8) had a chance to win at the end of regulation but blew three chances in the final five seconds.

Guard Blake Pengelly missed a 3-point shot, forward Kojo Mensah-Bonsu had a short jumper blocked by Trepagnier and Shannon Swillis deflected an inbounds in·bounds

The Trojans dominated the extra period, scoring 19 points in five minutes, only four less than in the entire first half.

``It feels good to get a win, but I'm kind of upset to go to overtime with that team, to be honest,'' Lakey said. ``I know we're better than a team like that.

``The three freshmen out, we want to make a statement on the floor that we can do something.''

Notes: USC senior guard Ken Sims was suspended from the game because he broke the curfew rule at the team hotel Friday night. . . . Bibby used his 13th different starting lineup.
