ROHR TO ADD MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN ARKADELPHIA, ARK.
CHULA VISTA, Calif., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Rohr Inc.'s (NYSE: RHR)

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert H. Goldsmith announced today in Arkadelphia, Ark., that the company will build a new 225,000-square- foot manufacturing facility in Clark County, Ark. The facility will occupy a 65-acre site located in the Clark County industrial park which is situated five miles south of Arkadelphia.
The new facility including equipment will cost approximately $25 million and is expected to be operational in late 1992 with approximately 50 employees within the first 12 months of operation. Employment is expected to grow by about 50 employees per year to a plant level of 150 employees by 1995.
The new facility will incorporate Rohr's superplastic forming capability and state-of-the-art processing and fabrication facilities for titanium, inconel and steel nacelle system components to support Rohr's existing assembly facilities in Arkansas, Alabama, Texas and Maryland.
"Arkansas was selected as the location after a very thorough and competitive assessment of possible plant locations," said Jim Goings, vice president, manufacturing - Chula Vista. "We have had excellent support from the state and the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission in our existing Arkansas plant locations. The availability of low cost power to satisfy the high energy requirements of the superplastic forming process, the proximity of our assembly plants in Sheridan (250 employees) and Heber Springs (220 employees), as well as the ability to have a facility up and operating well within a one-year time span were also major factors in selecting this location," he added.
Dave Harrington, executive director of the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission, stated, "Rohr's decision to locate another plant in Arkansas would never have happened if the people in Heber Springs and Sheridan had not shown company officials what a productive, quality workforce we offer in the state."
Jim Guy Tucker, lieutenant governor, State of Arkansas, who attended the announcement ceremony, indicated, "The location of the Rohr plant is a major milestone in Clark County's and Arkansas' future. Rohr is a company who embraces quality management standards and recognizes the ability of Arkansas workers to promote company growth."
Bob Fisher, president of the Clark County Industrial Council, said, "The community is excited about the quality and number of jobs coming to Arkadelphia. Rohr believes in developing people. These jobs represent the manufacturing technology of the future."
Industrial revenue bonds will provide the funding for the new Rohr facility. The Arkansas industry training program will be working with Rohr to train the required employees.
Rohr designs, integrates, manufactures and supports aircraft engine nacelle systems and components for commercial, military and business aircraft. Rohr, headquartered in Chula Vista, has facilities in the United States and Europe.
