ROGOSKY NAMED COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS HEAD

CAMP HILL, Pa., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- State Corrections Commissioner Joseph D. Lehman announced today the appointment of Thomas A. Rogosky as director of community corrections.
Rogosky, 47, of Mechanicsburg, who had been one of three regional directors of community corrections, will now oversee operation of all community corrections centers throughout Pennsylvania.
Community corrections centers serve as pre-release facilities for inmates nearing parole. Their intent is to ease transition for the offender from the state correctional system back into the community.
The Department of Corrections operates 15 community corrections centers across the state and contracts with 22 facilities operated by other entities.
Rogosky is a 20-year corrections veteran, spending virtually all of that time in community corrections. He began his corrections career in 1972 as a counselor at the York Community Corrections Center.
In 1973, after a brief stint as a staff counselor in community corrections at the department's central office in Camp Hill, he was named director of the former South Central Region of Community Corrections, headquartered in York and covering eight counties.
Rogosky returned to the department's central office in 1974 as chief of the inmate data services section. He held that position until 1976, when he was appointed assistant to the director of community corrections.
Since 1978, he has served as director of Community Corrections Region II, headquartered in Harrisburg, responsible for the supervision of five community corrections centers and 11 contract facilities in a 37-county area of central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
A native of Hazleton, Rogosky earned a bachelor's degree in rehabilitation education and a master's degree in counselor education, both from the Pennsylvania State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967.
