RODRIGUEZ: MIDDLE-CLASS TAX CUT, CANCEL REPRESENTATIVES' PAY HIKE.

PALMDALE -- Democratic congressional candidate Robert Rodriguez says he wants to lower taxes on the middle class and rescind To declare a contract void—of no legal force or binding effect—from its inception and thereby restore the parties to the positions they would have occupied had no contract ever been made.

Rodriguez said taxes should be cut for middle-class families to restore them to the income peak they hit in 2000.

``People in Congress don't have to deal with (decreasing income),'' he said to cheers from about 15 supporters Wednesday outside an H&R Block office on 10th Street West. ``Wouldn't it be great if we had it like them?''

Rodriguez proposes creating a tax credit averaging $1,562 for households earning up to roughly $75,000 a year, said Ankur Desai, his campaign policy director. The tax credit would be linked to changes in the national median wage indexed for inflation, Desai said.

Rodriguez said he wants to roll back $20,000 in Congressional pay increases over the past six years and peg Congress' future pay adjustments to changes in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
