ROCKERS TO RING IN CANYONS BUILDING.

 - College of the Canyons' president Dianne Van Hook wants the community to celebrate Tuesday night and has invited one of her favorite bands to play for the party.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting for the college's new music/dance building at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Selected faculty and student performances will mark the opening of the building, which is adjacent to the Vital Express Center for the Performing Arts off Rockwell Canyon Road.

``Diane said she would love to see hundreds of people with their blankets and lawn chairs having a picnic and enjoying the music,'' college spokeswoman Sue Bozman said.

The band, based in Long Beach, has been performing classic rock 'n' roll rock 'n' roll: see rock music.  in various combinations for nearly 40 years. A regular performer in the Concerts in the Park series in Long Beach, the band is known for its performance of vintage Top 40 tunes from the '40s through the '70s.
