The event is to kick off the sixth annual Santa Clarita Kings Night on March 11, a benefit for the Michael Hofflin Foundation for Children's Cancer. Hofflin was a 9-year-old Santa Clarita boy who proved an inspiration during his battle with terminal cancer.

The foundation, founded by Michael's father, Chris Hofflin, raises money for pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children.

 cancer research and helps young patients and their families.

The Kings have raised thousands of dollars for the foundation. Michael attended two community Kings nights before he died. In 1994, he dropped the puck between Robitaille and comedian Mike Myers at the Great Western Forum to start the pre-game.
